What the Zoho Books integration does

Salary JV in Zoho Books

Each payroll run posts a journal: salary expense by cost centre, statutory liability, advance recovery, net payable. Visible in Zoho Books within seconds.

GST Handling

Reimbursements with GST (telephone, fuel, travel) push with correct CGST and SGST split. GSTR-2 reconciliation works out of the box.

Bill Generation

Statutory remittances (PF, ESI, TDS) auto-create bills in Zoho Books with due dates. Pay them through Zoho without losing context.

Project Accounting

Allocate salary to Zoho Books projects based on employee project assignments. Project profitability reports stay accurate.

Auto Sync

Webhook based. New employee in Indian HRM creates a contact in Zoho Books. Updates flow both ways for vendor reimbursements.

Cost Centre Allocation

Salary cost splits across cost centres (departments, branches) as configured. Aligned with the Zoho Books cost centre report.

Setup in four steps

  1. Connect Zoho Books Organization — OAuth handshake from Indian HRM Integrations menu. Pick the Zoho Books organisation. Done in 60 seconds.
  2. Map Salary Components to Chart of Accounts — In Indian HRM, map basic, HRA, special, PF, ESI, gratuity to Zoho Books accounts. Defaults work for most setups.
  3. Configure GST Rules — For reimbursements with GST, set the GST rate per category. The system auto-splits CGST/SGST or IGST per state.
  4. Test Sync and Enable Auto Push — Test JV push. Verify in Zoho Books. Toggle auto-push for all future payroll runs.

Zoho Books integration FAQs

Does this work with Zoho Books India and Global editions?

Yes. India edition handles GST and TDS as per Indian regulations. Global edition supports VAT and other tax frameworks for companies with overseas entities. Pick the right edition per organisation in setup.

Can I push only certain payroll components?

Yes. Mapping is granular per component. You can choose to push only the consolidated salary JV and skip statutory entries if you want to maintain those manually.

How does multi-state GST work?

Reimbursements like telephone bills are GST applicable. For employees in the same state as the company, CGST + SGST splits. For other states, IGST. The system handles it based on employee state and company GSTIN state.

Is the integration covered in my Indian HRM subscription?

Yes. Zoho Books integration is included in all Indian HRM plans from Foundation upwards. Zoho Books subscription is separate (paid to Zoho directly).

Does this work with Zoho Payroll if I already have it?

If you currently use Zoho Payroll, Indian HRM is the alternative payroll engine. Customers who switch retain Zoho Books and replace Zoho Payroll with Indian HRM for richer HR features (attendance, hiring, performance, helpdesk).
