Setup in four steps

  1. Install the Indian HRM Slack App — From Indian HRM Integrations, click Add to Slack. The Slack admin authorises the app. Two minutes total.
  2. Map Slack Users to Employees — The system matches Slack email IDs to Indian HRM employee emails. Unmatched users can be linked manually.
  3. Choose Channels for Each Notification — Pick channels for birthdays, anniversaries, payroll alerts, kudos. Defaults: #general, #hr, #celebrations.
  4. Configure Approval DM — Toggle which approval types (leave, expense, time-off) DM the manager via Slack. Save and start using.

Slack integration FAQs

Does this require admin permissions to install?

Yes. Slack workspace admin needs to approve the Indian HRM app on first install. Once approved, individual users connect with one click. Standard OAuth flow.

Is the integration available for Slack free workspaces?

Yes. Works for Slack free, Pro, Business+, and Enterprise Grid plans. No Slack tier requirements.

Can I limit which channels the bot posts in?

Yes. Each notification type maps to a specific channel. You can mute any notification type or change channel later. Sensitive notifications (payslip, salary credited) always go to DM, never public channels.

Does the same approval flow work in Microsoft Teams?

Indian HRM Teams integration is on the roadmap for the next release. Until then, customers on Teams use the Indian HRM email approval workflow which is equally fast.

Is employee data exposed in Slack?

No. The Slack bot displays only the data the requester is authorised to see. Personal data like Aadhar and bank account never appear in Slack. Approval cards show role-appropriate fields only.
