Connect Indian HRM to Jira so your engineering org runs on one source of truth. New hires get Jira access the day they join, exits lose it the hour they leave, and every sprint plan already knows who is on leave. Worklogs flow back into HRM for attendance and payroll. No CSV exports, no manual seat cleanup, no engineer stuck without a Jira login on day one.

Engineering teams cut Jira seat cleanup from a monthly 3-hour chore to zero, and recover roughly ₹18,000 a year in orphaned licences per 50-seat instance.

What the Jira integration does

Two-way user sync

Employees, emails, teams and reporting lines stay matched between Indian HRM and Jira, so a name or manager change in one shows up in the other.

Auto-provision on joining

When you mark a developer active in Indian HRM, the integration creates their Jira account and adds them to the right project and group on their start date.

Instant deprovision on exit

The moment an employee is marked relieved or their last working day passes, their Jira access is revoked so no ex-employee keeps a live login.

Leave visible inside Jira

Approved leave from Indian HRM shows on the assignee in Jira, so sprint planning and capacity boards already account for who is out.

Worklog to attendance

Jira worklogs and time tracked against issues flow back into Indian HRM timesheets, feeding attendance and any effort-based billing you run.

Project-to-team mapping

Map each Jira project or board to a business unit or department in Indian HRM once, and every future hire lands in the correct project automatically.

Setup in four steps

  1. Connect your Jira site — Paste your Jira Cloud URL and generate an API token from your Atlassian account, then authorise Indian HRM from Settings > Integrations > Jira.
  2. Match users by email — Indian HRM pairs employees to Jira accounts on work email and flags anyone it cannot match so you can fix mismatches before anything syncs.
  3. Map projects to teams — Link each Jira project or board to the matching department or business unit so provisioning and leave visibility route to the right place.
  4. Pick sync direction and fields — Choose what flows each way (users, leave, worklogs) and switch on auto-provision and auto-deprovision if you want them running.
  5. Run a test sync — Trigger a manual sync on a small team, review the change log, then turn on the schedule once the results look right.

Why customers use this integration

  • New engineers have Jira access on day one instead of waiting two or three days for an IT ticket to clear.
  • No ex-employee keeps a live Jira login, which closes a real security and audit gap during appraisal and notice-period churn.
  • Sprint capacity already reflects approved leave, so planners stop committing story points to people who are on vacation or sick leave.
  • Finance stops paying for unused Jira seats because deprovisioning happens automatically the day someone leaves.
  • Worklogs feed Indian HRM timesheets, giving you effort data for attendance, client billing and Form 24Q-linked payroll without a second entry.

Jira integration FAQs

Which direction does data flow between Indian HRM and Jira?

It is two-way, but split by data type. User records, joining and exit events, and approved leave push from Indian HRM into Jira. Worklogs and time tracked against issues pull from Jira back into Indian HRM timesheets. You control each direction from the integration settings, so you can turn off any leg you do not want.

How often does the sync run?

User and leave changes sync near real time, usually within a couple of minutes of the change in Indian HRM. Worklog pulls run on a schedule you set, hourly or once a day. You can also hit Sync Now any time to force an immediate run, which is handy on a new hire's first morning.

What do I need to set it up?

A Jira Cloud site, admin rights on it, and an Atlassian API token. Setup takes about ten minutes: connect the site, let Indian HRM match users on work email, map your projects to departments, and run a test sync. No engineering work or middleware is needed.

What happens when a sync fails or a user does not match?

Nothing gets half-written. If an employee's email has no Jira match, that record is skipped and flagged in the sync log with the reason, while everyone else syncs normally. Failed API calls retry on a backoff, and you get an alert if a run keeps failing so you can fix the token or mapping.

Does deprovisioning delete the person's Jira work history?

No. Deprovisioning revokes login access and frees the seat, but issues, comments and worklogs the person created stay in Jira for audit and continuity. You choose whether to deactivate the account or fully remove the licence when someone is marked relieved in Indian HRM.
