FAQs

Which forms are used to withdraw PF?

Form 19 is for final EPF settlement when you leave service, Form 10C is for the EPS pension portion or a scheme certificate, and Form 31 is for a partial advance while you are still employed. Most claims can be filed online through the EPFO member portal if your UAN is KYC-verified.

Is EPF withdrawal taxable?

EPF withdrawn after 5 years of continuous service is tax-exempt. Withdraw before completing 5 years and it becomes taxable, with TDS at source above a threshold. Transferring PF to a new employer keeps the 5-year clock running.

How is the employer share split?

The employer contributes 12% of Basic plus DA. Of that, 8.33% goes to EPS on a wage ceiling of 15,000 a month, capped at 1,250 a month, and the rest goes to EPF and earns interest with your own contribution.

What interest rate should I use?

The calculator defaults to 8.25%, the rate EPFO declared for FY 2024-25. EPFO notifies the rate each year, so update the field to match the latest notification.
